The book contains the best pictures of the Novosibirsk region where the third largest city in Russia is located. The Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre is called "The Siberian Coliseum" for its huge size. Moscow's Bolshoy Theatre could be fit completely under its dome. The diameter of the dome is 60 meters (2362 inches), it is 35 meters (1377 inches) in height and 8 centimeters (3 inches) thick. The ratio of thickness to the radius is less than an egg's.

The Novosibirsk region is one of few Russian regions that does not comprise significant raw material resources and large monopoly enterprises but still shows successful experience in developing of the non-raw-material economy.
